Biblical Missions: The purpose of this class is to provide a Biblical model for missions. In doing this we will study the purpose and essence of missions. We desire to give you a greater appreciation for the importance of missions today and the tools to become a missionary according to God’s Word.
Inductive Bible Study: This class will focus upon preparing the student to dig into the Word of God on their own for devotional as well as for teaching purposes. The student will learn how to study the Word inductively, as well as principles incorporated into the interpretation of Scripture.
Calvary Chapel Philosophy of Ministry: What do we believe within the Calvary Chapel family? Are there principles which guide Calvary Chapel? The answer to both of these questions is yes and it is our goal to teach the students these principles and foundations. This course incorporates the mission’s philosophy of Calvary Chapel as well.
New Testament Overview: This class is designed to give the student a general overview of every book of the New Testament. It is our goal to enhance your appreciation for the New Testament by instructing you in the history and culture of this important time period. The student will also learn why these 27 letters are included in the canon of Scripture.
The Life of Jesus (John): No single person has made such an impact upon the world as our Lord Jesus; therefore it is only fitting to look at His life in-depth. In this class the student will dig into the life and teachings of Jesus through the gospel of John.
Evangelism/Discipleship: The purpose of this class is to learn in practice how to share your faith. It is our goal to equip the student with the necessary tools to share the gospel with those who
a) are unbelieving
b) of a different culture than their own
c) share differing religious views than their own.
Women’s Ministry/Men’s Ministry: In this class the student will learn some of the particulars of ministry. It is our goal to teach the Biblical principles which underline men’s and women’s ministry. There is so much confusion concerning the role of the man and the role of the woman, thus we believe that a proper understanding of the Word will remove the confusion that exists today.
Practical Missions: The purpose of this class is to teach the student many of the practical issues involved in being a missionary and/or in mission’s work. This class is to prepare students for immediate mission’s work or to help them in serving as senders for other missionaries.
Famous Missionaries/History of Missions: There have been so many great men and women throughout history who have made a tremendous impact upon the world through their missionary service. In this class we will look at some of them and learn about what made them “great.” The focus of this class is not to glorify a person but rather to glorify the Lord who called that person. We are aiming towards inspiring the student by the lives of these “greats.”
It was once said that “those who do not learn from history are destined to repeat it.” Therefore we believe it is important to understand from an historical view what has been done in the field of missions since the time of the early church. We expect to learn about missions as well as to be inspired by what has been accomplished for the Lord in the last two millennia.
Old Testament Overview: This class is designed to give the student a general overview of every book of the Old Testament. It is our goal to enhance your appreciation for the Old Testament by instructing you in the history and culture of this important time period. The student will also learn why these 39 letters are included in the canon of Scripture.
The Life of the Early Church (Acts): The early Church was one of great growth and power before God and men. It is our desire in this class to teach through the book of Acts and look at how the early Church functioned. We will look for the principles that made this church what it was.
1 Corinthians
In the first letter to the Corinthians, we get a unique look at the
relationship of the apostle Paul as a pastor to this church that he founded.
The heart of a shepherd is manifested in Paul's concern for a number of
important issues that the Corinthians are struggling with or failing in.
God's word provides clear instruction for how a church should live in the
midst of a carnal world. Issues such as spiritual unity, sexual purity,
church discipline, marriage and divorce, the use of spiritual gifts, and the
resurrection are dealt with. A key goal is that we might know that we can
have victory over our flesh in a carnal world as we walk in the Spirit.
Revelation
This is a study through one of the most shied away from
and misunderstood books in the Bible. We will journey through the past,
present, and future as we look at The Revelation of Jesus. Church History,
future prophetic events, and the imminent return of the Lord will be all
covered as we see the culmination of God’s plan of redemption.
Pastoral Epistles
The study of 1st and 2nd Timothy and Titus. These are personal
letters written by the apostle Paul to two younger men, Timothy and Titus,
his protégé. He is writing to his sons in the faith to provide leadership
to churches they have planted. We will study ministerial leadership and how
leadership should conduct themselves.
Language Training: We want to provide the language tools necessary for those who know where the Lord is leading them to minister. It is our desire to help them to begin to learn the language of the people they are going to serve. Knowledge of the national language is so important and we want to help you in any way possible.
Book Report: There is one book report required. You may either bring your own copy or there are a few copies of each in our library. This requires a two page written report.
